This QR code reader decodes QR codes from image files entirely in your browser. Upload an image containing a QR code and the tool uses the jsQR library to extract the encoded text. No image is uploaded to a server — all processing happens locally on your device.

How QR codes work

QR (Quick Response) codes are two-dimensional barcodes that store data as a grid of black and white squares. They can encode URLs, text, contact information, Wi-Fi credentials, and more. The three square finder patterns in the corners let scanners locate and orient the code, while error correction allows the code to be read even when partially damaged.

Tips for reliable decoding

• Use clear, high-contrast images where the QR code fills a good portion of the frame.
• Avoid glare, shadows, or heavy distortion that can blur the module boundaries.
• If the first attempt fails, try cropping the image closer to the QR code.
• The tool supports PNG, JPG, and WebP formats. Very small or very large images may need resizing.
